About TIMSAN

The Tijaniyyah Muslim Students’ Association of Nigeria is the body of students of the Tijaniyyah across Nigerian institutions — a community already there for a student on any campus, and a record of what each chapter does, kept beyond it.

Our vision

To establish an Islamic, Sufi-inclined community governed by the teachings of the Qur’an and Sunnah — tailored towards the spiritual, moral, economic and social uprightness of Tijaniyyah adherents and its lovers, as a model worthy of emulation.

Our mission

To develop a united and enlightened society of Tijaniyyah adherents on campus, fostered by a true understanding of the principles of Islam and Tijaniyyah doctrines, for the spiritual upliftment of its members through peaceful congregational worship — and by nurturing in them the love and character of the Prophet ﷺ.

How it is arranged

The association runs in four tiers, each nested in the one above it. Authority runs downward and money runs upward, one level at a time — which is what keeps every chapter answerable for its own affairs.

1

Chapter

The zawiyah at a single institution. Where members belong, and where dues are collected.

2

State

Sees everything its chapters do and can ask for what it is owed — but does not appoint their officers or set their dues.

3

Zone

Groups states together, the same way each state groups its chapters.

4

National

The National Executive Council, sitting over every zone.
